RIP

Though I know it's been several months since I last updated Desert Shadow, and everyone who used to read this comic has probably stopped visiting this site, I just remembered Desert Shadow recently and thought I should make a news post to affirm that fact which you visitors have probably long since suspected: I, Tiff AKA Shadowfiles of Desert Shadow, have no intention of continuing to update this comic.

I won't pretend that I've been super busy and just put the comic on hold or anything like that. I just no longer wish to be the creator of Desert Shadow, at least as it is. There is a possibility in the future that I might rewrite Desert Shadow from the ground up, but unless that future comes, you should mark your webcomics list that Desert Shadow is no longer updated.

Otherwise, I'd like to say that although Desert Shadow was relatively short-lived as webcomics go, I had a good run. I worked hard on this comic while I updated it, and I really improved my writing skills over time, largely with the help of reader feedback!

I really do sincerely thank all of you who gave your time to take a look at this humble little corner of the internet I made. I hope you enjoyed Desert Shadow at least half as much as I enjoyed making it.

On second thought..

...forget the Javascript trinkets. I didn't want an overly long title.

But yeah, to put things short, the little trick the ellipses and the collapsing and expanding excerpts was wayyy too annoying to refine to perfection for its worth. Curse you, browser compatability!

Actually, a friend also remarked that having to click to expand articles was annoying anyways.

Javascriptness

Man, Javascript sure is annoying sometimes; I'd prefer PHP anyday. You may notice on the news articles there are little ...'s you can press to expand the articles. Believe it or not, this simple little script feature took like 4 hours to fully finish.

All I can say is debugging is annoying, and Firefox 3.whatever appears to have some mysterious 'script stack space quota is exhausted' error that occurs when regexing longer strings. Seriously, I just gave up on trying to find a workaround to that, so the script may mess up for you Firefox guys.

Thus, I end my rant. Appreciate the news expansion and collapsion feature! Appreciate it! And do enjoy the comic too while you're at it. ;)

Hey, a news system!

You guys may or may not know that the update schedule of this comic is supposed to be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If you didn't, now you do! And obviously.. I didn't update this last Monday and today's Wednesday.

Sorry to get irresponsible on a cliffhanger but lately, I'm not really feeling it with Desert Shadow. Like the whole comic is just a meshup of random characters I made over time and an attempt to salvage them from the abyssal depths of my former selves' minds.

Also, I have to make some obligatory excuses about how I haven't been feeling well lately and don't have as much time as I wished I had and blah blah blah... Yeah right, everyone has problems now and then, but we all have to learn to deal with them and still work.

So all in all.. I guess you could pretty much say I have artist's/writer's block, and I figured I'd make a news system to keep myself in work mode.
